EPTDESIGN and the South Lake Business Association are collaborating in this global event to transform a public parking space into a temporary public park. On Friday the 19th enjoy a walk along South Lake Avenue to find South Lake's "Park." Relax, enjoy the space, and share your ideas about how to improve South Lake's and Pasadena's public space. Corporate Center Pasadena Particpates in Parking Day!
CB Richard Ellis is a global commercial real estate company that is firmly committed to sustainability. They currently manage over 1.8 billion square feet worldwide, including three buildings on Lake Avenue - Gateway Plaza, 2 North Lake and Corporate Center Pasadena. CBRE is a new participant this year to the Park(ing) Day movement and their plan is to actively participate in this event in 10 cities around the nation. They have chosen to partner directly with their national landscape vendor, Valley Crest, who will be donating the plant material for each of their "parks." Locally, they have designated Pasadena and Downtown Los Angeles for two of their "parks" and are excited to join the other groups in revitalizing the South Lake Avenue community by putting the public back in public space! Macy's Update!
As many of you may know, Macy's Pasadena on Lake Avenue is currently closed for seismic work as well as a major remodel. Macy's has announced that the store is scheduled to reopen in mid-November and a community celebration is planned. The historic 1947 building will feature numerous upgrades including restoration work on some of the architectural features, expanded merchandise departments, new flooring, new lighting and other improvements. Areas such as women's shoes, fashion accessories and women's apparel will see new departmental designs and increased merchandise assortments. The Macy's building, the first department store in Pasadena, is considered an architectural treasure and Macy's has worked closely with Pasadena Heritage to ensure the historical elements are treated with the appropriate respect and care. For the grand reopening, Macy's will be hosting a Community Shopping Day offering a chance for charities to fund-raise by selling $10 tickets to the event. The Pasadena Area Rapid Transit System (ARTS) is working on its Short Range Transit Plan that will help define its progress over the next few years. Craft Fair Gift Shop! A Philanthropy of Assistance League of Pasadena
This Gift Shop is a consignment shop that features hand made items made by local men and women over the age of 50. The shop will re-open on September 3rd. Assistance League will also be having a patio and wood shop sale on September 26th and 27th. All purchases will support seniors. South Lake Parking Meters
Please note that the newly installed meters along South Lake Avenue are now active with a 30 day soft enforcement period. Warnings will be issued for meter-related violations. Citations will be given to cars parked outside of their assigned stall and to those who exceed the 1 hour limit between the hours of 9:00am - 6:00pm. | |
